Pond Construction in Monticello Iowa
|
![]() I helped my friend Shane build a pond at his home in Monticello Iowa. The pond is heart shaped and holds about 1200 gallons. Its 10x10x3' deep. The water is circulated by a 1200gph supreme mag drive pump to a filter/waterfall in the upper left. The filter is a 55 gallon barrel with bird netting as a filter material. The barrel is connected to pond liner using my pipe boot method effectively hiding the filter. The fence was constructed around the pond because the homeowner operates a daycare. |

![]() This homeowner had 2 existing ponds in a serious state of disrepair. The first pond on the left was a little 150 gallon pond that needed the liner replaced and a new waterfall. The end result is pretty spectacular. The half moon pond on the right was made of bricks and cement and leaked very bad. For this pond, I lined it with rubber liner, then decorated it with rocks. I wanted to add some spitting lion head fountains, but the homeowner choose a center fountain instead. |

Settling Chamber Construction in Waverly Iowa
|
![]() This homeowner was doing alot of pond maintenance each season on their 18,000 gallon pond to remove fish waste and was struggling with green water. I constructed this settling chamber and retro-fitted 2 bottom drain. The homeowner did the landscaping. The settling chamber is 5'x5'x4' deep, and has a drain which allows the homeowner to purge the contents of the bottom of the chamber to the grass downhill. I constructed the bridge, and hide the pumphouse underneath the far side of the bridge. The pump is a 4400gph sequence 1000. Since construction of this setup, the homeowners water has cleared up and maintenance is now very easy. 15 Construction photos are available on my DIY CD. |
